Sigenergy: One AI Ecosystem, Every Product Explained

A single Chinese newcomer now sells the solar inverter, the battery, the EV charger, the backup gateway and the AI brain that runs them all. We walk through the whole Sigenergy range — including the brand-new SigenStor Neo — and ask whether "one ecosystem" is marketing or genuinely a better way to build a home energy system.

Most home energy setups are a committee of strangers: a solar inverter from one brand, a battery from another, an EV charger from a third, and a monitoring app that talks to none of them properly. Sigenergy, founded in 2022 by former Huawei executives, has spent three years arguing that this is daft — and selling the alternative. Its pitch is a single, tightly integrated ecosystem where every box is designed to talk to every other box, all supervised by one AI-driven app.

That's a bold claim, and this year the range got broad enough to test it properly. Below we go product by product: the flagship SigenStor and its new smaller sibling the SigenStor Neo, the SigenMicro microinverter, the zero-downtime Gateway, the standalone Sigen Hybrid inverter, the AC and DC EV chargers, and the mySigen app that ties the lot together.

1. SigenStor vs SigenStor Neo

The SigenStor is the product that made Sigenergy's name. Its trick is cramming five things most brands sell separately into one stackable tower: a solar inverter, a battery inverter (PCS), the battery packs themselves, an optional EV DC charger, and the energy-management brain (EMS) — the "5-in-1" you see on every spec sheet. You start with an inverter base, then stack battery modules on top like books on a shelf. The whole cabinet is IP66-rated, so it can be wall- or floor-mounted outdoors — no garage or plant room required, even in British weather.

Battery capacity scales from a single ~6 kWh module up to around 48–54 kWh per tower using 6.0 kWh or 9.0 kWh LiFePO₄ modules (see how it stacks up against rivals in our 5 home battery systems worth considering), with the inverter itself — the SigenStor Energy Controller (EC) — offered in a wide ladder of power ratings so it can be matched to anything from a modest terrace to a large three-phase property. The headline party trick is the built-in 25 kW EV DC fast charger module — a home battery that can rapid-charge your car directly from DC solar, something almost no rival offers in the same cabinet.

The inverter range: 3.6 kW to 30 kW

This is where the SigenStor gets genuinely flexible. Rather than one or two fixed sizes, the Energy Controller comes as a ladder of power ratings — six single-phase options and nine three-phase — so your installer can size the inverter to your roof and your loads rather than rounding up to the nearest big box. The number of MPP trackers (independent solar inputs) climbs with size too, which matters for homes with panels on several roof faces.

Single-phase: 5 and 6 kW use 2 MPP trackers, 8 kW uses 3, and 10 and 12 kW use 4. All models allow up to 200% DC oversizing, so you can fit noticeably more panel wattage than the inverter's rating. Exact model availability varies by market — a certified installer confirms what's offered in the UK.

In June/July 2026, at Intersolar Europe, Sigenergy launched the SigenStor Neo. Crucially, it is not a replacement — it's a slicker, more residential-focused companion that sits below the original in the range. Three things stand out.

It swallows the gateway. On a standard SigenStor install you often need a separate Gateway box to manage backup and grid connection. The Neo builds the grid port, backup port and a "smart port" straight into the inverter, so most single-home installs need no separate gateway at all. It's also rear-wired with no side panels, which makes for a cleaner wall and a faster fit.

Bigger, tougher battery blocks. The Neo moves to larger 6.0 kWh and 10.0 kWh modules built on 314Ah cells, rated at a full 100% depth of discharge and a quoted cycle life of up to 10,000 cycles — roughly double the original's rated endurance. A new "cell suspension" design puts an air gap between the cells and the electronics to break the thermal path, and a built-in pack optimiser even lets you mix old and new battery modules.

Smarter ports. The Neo is billed as the first all-in-one to carry both a dedicated smart port and a backup port, letting it drive third-party inverters, generators, heat pumps or EV chargers, with 0 ms backup and up to 200% peak power for starting heavy loads.

Rule of thumb: if you want DC EV fast charging in the same cabinet, or you're three-phase and going big, the original SigenStor still leads. For a clean, gateway-free single-home battery-and-solar retrofit, the Neo is the newer, simpler answer.

2. SigenMicro — the microinverter play

Until 2026 Sigenergy was a battery-and-string-inverter company. The SigenMicro pushes it into the world of microinverters — one small inverter per panel (or pair of panels) rather than a single big inverter for the whole array. The appeal is classic micro logic: if one panel is shaded or dirty, only that panel's output dips, not the whole string, and there's no high-voltage DC running across your roof.

What makes the SigenMicro interesting rather than me-too is the engineering. It uses an unusual DAB (dual-active-bridge) topology to hit up to 97.5% efficiency, tops out at 800 W AC output, and — in a genuine first — has WiFi Mesh networking and an EMS built in, so it needs no separate communication gateway. Add panel-level rapid shutdown (a safety must for firefighters), IP67 weatherproofing and AI-assisted commissioning that Sigenergy claims takes about five minutes, and it's a credible option for tricky, multi-angle or shaded roofs where a single string inverter struggles.

The strategic point: because the SigenMicro speaks the same ecosystem language, a SigenStor Neo can talk to it directly. You can now do a whole Sigenergy roof — microinverters, battery, charger, app — without a third-party panel-level product in the mix.

3. The Gateway — zero-downtime backup

If backup power is why you're buying a battery, the Sigen Gateway is the box that makes it seamless. It sits between your home and the grid, and the instant the grid fails it disconnects and hands your circuits over to solar-plus-battery with 0 ms of load-side disruption — fast enough that lights, computers and sensitive electronics never notice. A conventional changeover can take tens of milliseconds or more, long enough to trip a desktop PC.

The residential Gateway handles up to around 24 kW single-phase, but the same family scales dramatically for commercial sites — three-phase versions from 50 kW all the way to 1,200 kW, and modular configurations supporting up to 2.4 MW of backup. It can marshal multiple SigenStor towers, connect generators and heat pumps, and even do 2-wire generator start under remote control from the app.

Do you still need a Gateway?

This is exactly the wrinkle the SigenStor Neo addresses. On the original SigenStor, whole-home backup usually meant adding a Gateway. The Neo builds those ports in, so a typical single home may not need the separate box at all. The standalone Gateway now really earns its keep on bigger, multi-tower, three-phase or commercial installations — or where you're bolting backup onto a system that isn't a Neo.

4. Standalone inverters — the Sigen Hybrid

Not everyone wants an all-in-one tower. For people who already have solar, or want to add a battery later, Sigenergy sells the Sigen Hybrid inverter as a standalone unit. "Hybrid" means it handles both solar and a battery, so you can install it solar-only today and clip on SigenStor battery modules whenever you're ready — no inverter swap required.

The second-generation unit is a tidy piece of hardware: a slim, fanless die-cast body running near-silent at about 25 dB, single-phase versions from 3–6 kW and three-phase from 3–12 kW, up to four MPPT trackers for complex roofs, an IP66 rating for outdoor mounting, and — on the three-phase models — up to 99.0% efficiency thanks to silicon-carbide electronics. It's the "start small, grow into the ecosystem" entry point.

5. EV chargers — AC for every day, DC for everything

Sigenergy sells two very different chargers, and the gap between them is the whole story.

The Sigen AC Charger is the everyday wall box: 7 kW single-phase, or 11 and 22 kW three-phase, IP65 for indoor or outdoor mounting, with dynamic load balancing that trims charging power to whatever the house has spare and can even flip between three-phase and single-phase to avoid tripping the supply. The SigenStor EVDC is the showpiece: a 25 kW bidirectional DC charger that adds roughly 150 km of range per hour and, more importantly, does V2H and V2G — vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid. Because it's DC-coupled to the battery and solar, it can charge the car straight from panels without the conversion losses of an AC box, and it can run in reverse to power your house from the car's battery during an outage or an expensive tariff window. It's dual-standard (CCS and NACS/Tesla), IP66, and available either integrated into a SigenStor or as a standalone module.

6. The mySigen app — the AI that runs it all

Hardware is half the ecosystem argument; the software is the other half. The mySigen app is where the "one brain" claim lives. Beyond the usual real-time monitoring, 3D visualisation and energy-flow (Sankey) diagrams, it now leans hard on AI in two ways.

Sigen AI Mode is the automation layer. It watches your usage habits, solar forecasts and — importantly for UK users on dynamic tariffs — time-of-use pricing, then decides when to charge, discharge, export or hold. You pick a strategy: Profit Max to chase cheap-import/expensive-export arbitrage, Balanced, or Self-Use First to maximise your own solar. On the right tariff, that arbitrage is where a battery actually pays for itself.

Sigen AI Assistant is a GPT-4o-powered chatbot that acts as after-sales engineer and energy analyst rolled into one. Ask it why the battery didn't charge last night and it will reason over your real system data and tariff and walk you through the answer, rather than firing back a canned FAQ. Whether you find that genuinely useful or a gimmick will depend on how much you like talking to your house — but as a way to demystify a complex system for a non-expert owner, it's a smart move.

The verdict: is "one ecosystem" real?

Mostly, yes — and that's the interesting part. Plenty of brands say ecosystem and mean "our battery works with our inverter." Sigenergy has actually built the full stack: the panel-level microinverter, the string inverter, the all-in-one battery tower, the backup gateway, both flavours of EV charger, and a single AI app that supervises the lot. The SigenStor Neo is the clearest sign of the strategy maturing — it folds the gateway inside, doubles battery endurance and simplifies the install, which is exactly what a mainstream residential product needs.

The honest caveats are the ones that apply to any fast-moving newcomer. Sigenergy is only a few years old, so the very long-term reliability and the strength of the UK installer and warranty network are still being proven, and a tightly integrated single-brand system means you're betting on one company for everything. But if you're planning solar, storage and an EV charger together — rather than bolting them on one at a time — the case for buying them as one designed-to-fit system, run by one app, is genuinely strong. On the numbers and the integration, Sigenergy has earned a place on the shortlist.
